Jill Biden Discusses Doubts on Seeing a Female President in Her Lifetime

Former First Lady Jill Biden expressed doubts about witnessing a female president during her lifetime. Speaking on Kelly Ripa’s “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast, Biden, age 75, shared her perspective when asked if a female president is likely within their lifetimes.

Biden responded, “In my lifetime? Well, I’m 75. So, you know, I feel like probably not in my lifetime, Kelly, but maybe in yours.” Despite this, she expressed confidence in Kamala Harris as a potential first female president.

Biden mentioned, “I really did think last time that Kamala was going to win. I was out on the campaign trail for her. I saw the excitement, the crowds, and energy. I thought, ‘Finally, we’re going to have a woman president.'”

Patrice Onwuka, vice president of economic policy at Independent Women, commented that Biden’s remarks were a “slap” to other female Democrats with aspirations for 2028, such as AOC and Gretchen Whitmer.

Onwuka told Fox News Digital that Harris lost because she was perceived as a status quo candidate. She added, “Perhaps it’s time to stop fixating on gender and take policy seriously. Democrats failed to make Americans’ lives better in 2024.”

Kelly Ripa expressed a less hopeful stance, stating there needs to be a breakthrough messenger to the public, criticizing the role of social media in this context.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama shared similar doubts, indicating America isn’t ready for a female president, pointing to Harris’ loss in 2024. However, Harris countered by asserting the country is prepared, referencing her sold-out book tour appearances.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi disagreed with Obama’s views, questioning why a female commander-in-chief remains improbable. She emphasized the need for change and asked, “Why not? Women serve in the military too.”
