Jill Biden’s Memoir Sparks Debate Over Joe Biden’s Health and Leadership
Jill Biden’s new memoir has ignited discussions regarding Joe Biden’s presidential debate performance. Her revelations in the memoir focus on her deep concern during the debates, where she feared he might be experiencing a stroke. These concerns have triggered questions about his health and leadership.
Michael LaRosa, previously a chief spokesperson, has criticized the White House for allegedly obscuring these issues rather than addressing them. He argues that the current efforts to change public perception of Biden are insufficient at this stage.
LaRosa also accused Jill Biden of attempting to revise her portrayal after sharing her fears about Joe Biden’s debate performance in a recent interview. Critics have noted her shift in stance regarding the debate against then-candidate Donald Trump.
“They’re trying to change the tape in people’s minds about who she is… that’s why she’s sort of changing her tune a little bit about her reaction in real time,” LaRosa said.
Social media responded strongly to Jill Biden’s admission of being “frightened” during her husband’s debate, indicating a widespread concern over his capabilities as a leader.
During the 2026 Milken Institute Global Conference, Jill Biden recounted her worry, expressing that she initially believed Biden was having a stroke, which alarmed her greatly.
During the debate, Jill Biden praised Joe Biden publicly, telling him, “You did such a great job, you answered every question, you knew all the facts,” despite her later expressed concerns.
This revelation has caused a stir among political parties. Republicans argue that the debate exemplified Biden’s decline, rendering him unfit for the presidency. Democrats, however, maintain the stance that the debate was an isolated incident.
Former President Joe Biden addressed supporters at a fundraising event in South Carolina, marking the sixth anniversary of his primary win in the state.
Axios reporter Alex Thompson doubted Jill Biden’s characterization, noting that Biden aides had observed similar behavior before and after the debate. These unpredictable moments reportedly became more challenging to manage according to comments gathered for Thompson’s book, “Original Sin.”
