Kendal Daniels Shines for Falcons Following Injury Scare

Last week, Atlanta Falcons rookie linebacker Kendal Daniels faced a frightening moment when he was taken off the field on a stretcher at Mercedes-Benz Stadium after a hit. This week, Daniels not only returned to play but made a significant contribution that led to the Falcons defeating the previously undefeated San Francisco 49ers.

In the final quarter of the game, the Falcons held a nine-point lead against the stronger 49ers team. With under a minute left, San Francisco’s desperation resulted in tight end George Kittle catching a wide-open pass. As Kittle advanced, he was tripped by Falcons safety Jessie Bates III, causing a fumble. Daniels quickly dove on the loose ball, ensuring the Falcons’ victory and giving them a 3-5 season record, while handing the 49ers their first loss.

Daniels delivered more than one impressive play. He secured a career-high 11 tackles, including nine solo efforts. He also made an interception by tipping a pass from Brock Purdy, although he was stopped before making it to the end zone.

The previous week, Daniels was injured in a match against the Chicago Bears. Following a hit on tight end Colston Loveland, Daniels experienced neck pain and was stretchered off as a precaution. Despite the scare, he was seen at practice days later, cleared to play against the 49ers.

Reflecting on the incident, Daniels said, “I scared a lot of people. It was a scary play. I’m blessed to come out how I did.” Looking ahead, Daniels plans to continue his strong performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their upcoming NFC South matchup.
