A group of six local preservation and cultural heritage organizations has demanded a halt to work on the statue garden in West Potomac Park. They insist that Congress must authorize this project before work can proceed.
Recently, West Potomac Park underwent a significant seawall restoration. President Donald Trump’s administration has been considering this location as a potential site for the proposed National Garden of American Heroes.
On Monday, a coalition of Washington-area preservation and cultural heritage organizations filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration. They oppose President Trump’s plan to transform national parkland with a large-scale statuary garden.
