Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette and Attorney General Alan Wilson Compete in South Carolina GOP Runoff
Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, a Republican from South Carolina, addressed reporters following her endorsement by Gov. Henry McMaster for the 2026 GOP gubernatorial primary. This announcement took place on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Columbia, S.C.
On Tuesday, Evette will compete against Attorney General Alan Wilson in the Republican runoff aimed at succeeding Gov. Henry McMaster. Wilson managed to secure an endorsement from the president at the last minute, despite the president’s earlier support for Evette before the state’s June 9 primary. Evette continues to receive backing from McMaster.
“I can’t hurt one of them by only endorsing the other, so therefore, I am going to endorse, for Governor of South Carolina, both Pam Evette and Alan Wilson!” Trump stated on social media on Friday. “It’s a wealth of riches – with either one you can’t go wrong.”
The winner of Tuesday’s election will face Democratic state Representative Jermaine Johnson in the election scheduled for November. Polling stations will close at 7 p.m. EDT. For live updates, follow Decision Desk HQ’s coverage.
