Man Drowns in Fort Lauderdale; Investigation Underway
A tragic incident occurred in Fort Lauderdale early on Sunday, June 7, 2026, when a man drowned. The incident took place shortly after 5 a.m. near the 200 block at Southwest Second Avenue.
Witnesses reported seeing the man enter the water around that time. Upon receiving a call about the potential drowning, Fort Lauderdale police swiftly collaborated with Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and the Broward Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit to search the area. They successfully located the man, who was subsequently transported to Broward Health Medical Center by Fire Rescue personnel. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s Homicide Unit to determine any contributing factors leading to this unfortunate event.
