Jheyco Borda, a Marine veteran, recently recounted a harrowing encounter in Oxon Hill, Maryland, where he was threatened by a group of teens. The incident occurred when Borda was approached by the teens while working on his car.
Surveillance footage captured the tense moments as a suspect allegedly aimed a gun at Borda’s face. Despite the threat, Borda managed to wrestle the teen to the ground. The video also recorded a gunshot, which fortunately did not result in any injuries.
“I was fearing for my life,” Borda shared, describing his reaction when confronted. “The guy took a pistol up to my head, demanding car keys, my phone, everything.”
The altercation involved six teens: four males and two females. During the struggle, the firearm discharged, but the bullet only hit the back of Borda’s truck. Remarkably, no one was harmed.
Borda attributes his ability to neutralize the threat to his Marine Corps training, which he credits with helping him maintain composure and act effectively. His brother also played a role in defusing the situation by directly confronting the teens.
This was not the first occurrence of this type of crime in Borda’s neighborhood. He noted a similar incident two years prior, where a group stole a vehicle in the same spot.
The Prince George’s County Police Department has arrested two male teens and continues to investigate the involvement of the other four suspects in the attempted carjacking.
