Marjorie Taylor Greene Criticizes War Secretary Amid Iran Conflict

Former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia criticized War Secretary Pete Hegseth for his comments about fallen U.S. service members related to the ongoing Iran conflict. Greene attacked Hegseth’s remarks on X, where he honored the sacrifice of American troops after a U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) post about their deaths in Jordan. Hegseth wrote, “Godspeed, heroes. Their sacrifice only stiffens our resolve.”

Greene responded to Hegseth’s post by questioning his reference to ‘sacrifice.’ She stated, “Sacrifice?? What are you talking about?? They did not willingly sacrifice themselves. They were killed because of the war you, Trump, and the administration, are waging on behalf of a foreign country, Israel. You mean their deaths fuel your bloodlust for a senseless war.”

Fox News Digital contacted the White House and the War Department for comments. According to CENTCOM, the incident on July 17 in Jordan involved two U.S. service members killed in action during defense against Iranian missile and drone attacks. The post also mentioned a missing service member.

Greene expressed her condolences for the fallen soldiers’ families and the missing soldier in a post on X. She called for President Trump to bring troops home, criticizing what she terms an “America LAST war.”

CENTCOM updated on Sunday that unidentified remains were found at the location of the attack, prompting an ongoing examination process. Additionally, a U.S. service member in northern Iraq died on July 18 due to an Iranian drone attack, with another wounded during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance.

Greene and President Trump had a fallout last year, leading to her resignation from Congress in January during her two-year term.
