A married couple, Stephen Larnell Willetts and Tracey Parker Willetts, was discovered dead in their home in Wilmington, North Carolina. Deputies responded to an emergency call early on Thursday morning. A smartwatch worn by one of the Willetts detected a fall and automatically called 911 when the alarm was not canceled. This prompted an emergency response, as reported by WWAY.

Stephen and Tracey Willetts appeared to have recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Posts on Facebook indicated this milestone occurred on the day before their deaths. Stephen Willetts, 65, was recognized as retired Army, according to a neighbor’s account reported by WECT. Tracy Willetts’ second cousin, Fuller Royal, described Stephen as a lifelong friend and devoted EMT in a social media post. He also noted the couple’s tragic loss of their two sons between 2013 and 2014. Royal expressed hope that the Willetts are reunited with their sons and at peace.
