North Carolina Woman Missing in Grenada: Details Emerge

By July 27, 2026, an American woman named Elizabeth Waddell disappeared while vacationing on the island of Grenada. Her last known location was Grand Anse Beach, in Grenada’s capital, St. George’s. Surveillance footage captured Waddell heading to the pier and entering the water.

Family spokesperson Amanda Romano-Harmon noted that the video showed Waddell swimming before she drifted out of camera view. The Royal Grenada Police Force has not released surveillance images of her disappearance.

Waddell was on a three-week vacation with her friend Heather Poole. On July 22, she left their Airbnb around noon with only her swimsuit and towel, leaving behind her phone and identification. When she hadn’t returned after several hours, Poole searched for her and found her towel but no further signs.

Her husband, Cailen Waddell, along with other family members, traveled to Grenada to assist in the search. Cailen described Elizabeth as a loving and sociable woman who easily made friends.

Local authorities have asked residents and boaters for any information regarding Waddell’s disappearance. The State Department is also aware and monitoring the situation.
