Novak Djokovic’s Encounter with Cameraman During Match
Novak Djokovic found himself in an unexpected situation during his third-round match at the French Open. The Serbian tennis star was enjoying his match against Brazilian player Joao Fonseca when the scene took a different turn due to a cameraman’s actions on Court Philippe-Chatrier in Paris.
A tense moment occurred when the cameraman moved too close for a shot after Djokovic won his second set over Fonseca, 6-4. Djokovic responded immediately, asking sarcastically, “Can you come more in my face? For God’s sake, make some space.” With his hands raised in frustration, the cameraman quickly backed off, ensuring more distance.
Match Commentary and Cameraman Replacement
Nick Mullins, a commentator for TNT Sports, noted the involvement of an assistant referee who encouraged the cameraman to maintain a respectful distance. Ultimately, the cameraman was substituted for another, ensuring smoother proceedings.
Unexpected Turn in Djokovic’s Match Performance
Despite the initial frustration with the cameraman, Djokovic was performing well in his match. He needed one more set to secure his place in the Round of 16. However, Joao Fonseca made a remarkable comeback, surprising Djokovic with a win in the next three sets, ending the match in favor of Fonseca, 4-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, 7-5.
Though Djokovic is ranked No. 3 and is known for his impressive 24 Grand Slam titles, Fonseca, ranked No. 28, demonstrated his potential. This match marked their first encounter, showcasing Fonseca as a rising star in tennis.
Upcoming Challenges for Joao Fonseca
Following this victory, Fonseca will compete against Casper Ruud of Norway, ranked No. 15, in the fourth round. This match represents a chance for Fonseca to advance to the quarterfinals at Roland-Garros.
