Prank Missing-Person Posters of Mitch McConnell Emerge in Washington D.C.

Prank missing-person posters of Senator Mitch McConnell have surfaced in Washington D.C. This comes as McConnell continues his extended time away from Congress while hospitalized.

The posters display “MISSING PERSON” in bold red letters above a picture of the Kentucky Republican in a hospital bed. He is described as “84 years old. 5’9 feet. Turtle-like.”

These materials were produced by the Save America Movement. This group describes itself as a “citizen-led organization committed to defending democracy and restoring common sense.”

An image shared by the group on X shows the poster stating: “Known for: Blocking something in the Senate. Distinguishing features: Tortoise-like appearance.”

McConnell has been absent from Congress for several weeks amidst rising concerns about his health. He was hospitalized in mid-June after a fall and developed “a mild case of pneumonia.”

“I’m still working hard to get back to my full schedule of work in the Senate and in Kentucky, keeping up with intense physical therapy per my doctors’ orders,” McConnell stated in a release from his office on Monday.

According to a spokesperson for the Save America Movement, they made the flyers because “this has gotten absurd.” For over a month, the senior senator from Kentucky has neither cast a vote nor appeared for Senate duties. His absence has left the four and a half million constituents he represents without a clear representative.

His absence has frustrated some legislators. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, a Democrat, has urged McConnell to “directly and verbally address the people of Kentucky and provide proof of your capacity to serve, or resign.”
