President Trump Unveils New Air Force One Ahead of July 4 Celebration
On Friday, President Donald Trump revealed a new Air Force One jet at Joint Base Andrews, just outside Washington, D.C. The Qatari government provided the Boeing 747, which features a new color scheme of red, white, and dark blue, differing from the previous lighter blue model.
Trump plans to utilize this luxurious aircraft during the July 4 ceremonial flyover in Washington, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. The jet will be part of a grand display involving various military planes.
While presenting the aircraft, Trump expressed strong admiration for its features. He described the plane as “the largest and the greatest,” showcasing luxury beyond previous standards. This new plane will serve as a “flying White House,” according to Trump.
The aircraft is valued at $400 million. However, significant additional expenses by the U.S. government were necessary to prepare the plane for official use.
The gift from the Qatari government has drawn bipartisan criticism for potential security and ethical concerns. Experts estimate that the overhaul and security enhancements on the aircraft might exceed $1 billion.
President Trump announced that his return from the G7 summit in France would be the last time he uses the current Air Force One fleet.
