Rep. Ro Khanna Calls for Apology from Maine Senate Candidate Graham Platner

In Bar Harbor, Maine, California Representative Ro Khanna urged Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner to apologize to women who recently reported concerning behavior they experienced with him. Khanna, supporting Platner and other Democratic candidates before the upcoming primary, commented on the allegations in an interview with NBC News.

Khanna firmly rejected the alleged behavior described by three women in their past relationships with Platner. He stated, “I think he should apologize. I believe what he did was wrong, misogynistic, and toxic or volatile.” Khanna emphasized that Platner should acknowledge the significance of opposing a misogynistic culture.

According to The New York Times, three former girlfriends of Platner depicted his behavior as “toxic” and “unsettling.” One of the women, Lyndsey Fifield, detailed an incident where Platner allegedly twisted her arm, forcibly confined her to a bedroom, and prevented her exit until she calmed down.

Platner has denied certain allegations, particularly those suggesting physical abuse. In a Thursday interview with MS NOW, he characterized some accusations as politically driven, especially those implying his awareness of a specific tattoo’s meaning.

Fifield has been involved with conservative groups and Republican campaigns. Khanna, the most prominent national supporter of Platner, spoke at an event featuring Platner and various candidates for governor and congress. Khanna defended Platner, stating, “He understood that those years were not the best years of his life.” Khanna highlighted Platner’s accountability and efforts to become a better individual.
