Seaplane Crash Near Washington State Leaves Several Injured

A seaplane carrying 11 individuals crashed near Washington state’s coast on Thursday, resulting in multiple injuries. According to authorities, one person is critically injured.

The Kenmore Air seaplane performed an emergency landing and subsequently caught fire close to Sucia Island in the San Juan Islands around 5:30 p.m., as reported by the U.S. Coast Guard. All passengers and the pilot were rescued from the water by officials from the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office stated, “There are multiple patients with injuries ranging from head injuries to broken bones and lacerations, with 1 patient in critical condition and no reports of fatalities at this time.”

Kenmore Air confirmed that the de Havilland DHC-3 Otter aircraft had crashed roughly 45 minutes after departing from Lake Union in Seattle. In response to the incident, the airline has canceled all flights scheduled for Friday.

Kenmore Air CEO David Gudgel expressed gratitude, saying, “We are grateful that everyone aboard has been accounted for, and our immediate focus is ensuring our passengers and pilot receive the care and support they need.”
