Jonathan Andic, son of the late fashion mogul Isak Andic, is under investigation for his father’s death during a hiking incident near Barcelona. A 911 call released recently captures Jonathan’s emotional plea for assistance after Isak’s fall.
On the call, Jonathan is heard saying, “I need help, my father has fallen!” and “We are in Collbató, he has fallen down a ravine, please send an ambulance, send someone.” They were en route to the Salnitre Caves when the fall occurred, and Jonathan stated, “I don’t see him, he doesn’t answer.” Isak, aged 71, fell approximately 500 feet and died in December 2024.
Authorities arrested Jonathan in May, suspecting homicide in what was initially deemed an accidental fall. As the sole witness, Jonathan faces scrutiny from the Juzgado de Instruccion 5 in Martorell, Barcelona. Jonathan’s arrest involved a significant bail of one million euros, and he surrendered his passport to remain in Spain during the investigation.
The Andic family, including Jonathan’s sisters, express confidence in his innocence. “There is no legitimate evidence against him, nor will any be found,” their statement declares.
Isak Andic, a significant figure in the fashion industry, founded Mango in 1984 after relocating from Istanbul to Catalonia in the 1960s. The brand grew under his guidance, becoming a formidable presence in over 100 countries as a rival to Zara. At the time of his death, Isak held non-executive chairman status at Mango, with his worth estimated at $4.5 billion by Forbes. His influence left a lasting impact on the fashion world.
Jonathan, inheritor and vice chairman of Mango, denies any wrongdoing. The family’s legal team argues that the phone call serves as a primary defense piece. As the investigation unfolds, the legacy of Isak Andic as a leading business figure remains prominent.
