Spencer Pratt Reflects Online After Mayoral Defeat
Spencer Pratt, a former reality TV star, recently addressed his followers online following his loss in the Los Angeles mayoral race. Pratt shared a photo on social media, depicting a duck on water at sunset. He did not add any captions or explanations to accompany the image.
The Associated Press reported that the race concluded with Nithya Raman declared the winner at 7:55 p.m. ET on Monday. Raman, a progressive city councilmember, will now proceed to a runoff in November with the incumbent, Karen Bass, who is a Democrat.
As of Tuesday at 8:54 p.m. ET, Bass secured 34.3 percent of the votes, while Raman received 29 percent. Spencer Pratt trailed with 25.5 percent, with nearly all votes counted.
Efforts to reach Pratt’s campaign for comments have yielded no response. The unexpected turnout of this election was closely watched. Raman’s success ensured her place in the upcoming runoff against Bass, a shift from potential outcomes during ongoing vote counting. The final result solidified a forthcoming contest between two known figures in Los Angeles politics.
Despite Pratt’s loss, his candidacy captured significant media and public interest. He notably criticized city leadership in the aftermath of the destructive fires in Los Angeles County last year. These fires also destroyed his home.
Pratt’s post-election photograph quickly garnered attention, amassing over 335,000 views and more than 1,000 replies on X by 9:42 p.m. ET Tuesday.
Pratt’s activity on platforms like X, TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram confirms this as his first permanent social media update since Raman’s victory was announced.
