Stephanie Pratt has recently expressed support for her brother Spencer Pratt’s campaign for mayor of Los Angeles. This comes after she previously referred to a vote for him as a “vote for stupidity.” In an email to Vanity Fair, Stephanie admitted her past skepticism, stating, “I was the first person to tell people that they were idiots if they voted for my brother. Wow, was I wrong.”
Stephanie acknowledged Spencer’s dedication to addressing issues since the Palisades fires. She praised his efforts to uncover and address the facts, mistakes, and negligence surrounding those events. This contrasts with her earlier statements on social media, which criticized his qualifications and motives for running for mayor.
In a series of now-deleted posts, Stephanie noted that he had assisted the Palisades community. However, she argued that Los Angeles required a mayor with more qualifications and experience. She accused her brother of seeking fame and promoting his memoir, cautioning residents not to be misguided by his campaign.
Despite her previous remarks, Stephanie has shifted to a more supportive role. Yet, she remains concerned about Los Angeles’s challenges, expressing openness to alternative solutions like separate governance for the Palisades area. Stephanie also referenced past personal issues with Spencer in her social media posts, stating, “I have no problem playing government but our city needs help.”
Spencer Pratt announced his candidacy in January, marking one year since losing his home to the Palisades Fire. His campaign has since attracted attention, positioning him as an anti-establishment candidate. Recent polls indicate a close primary race between him, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and L.A. City Council member Nithya Raman. Notable figures like Paris Hilton, Dennis Quaid, Katharine McPhee, and David Foster also support his campaign.
