On May 22, 2026, Adlai E. Stevenson High School celebrated the graduation of almost 1,200 students at NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates. The Class of 2026 demonstrated remarkable philanthropic efforts, reflecting the values instilled in them as Stevenson Patriots, according to Eric Twadell, superintendent of Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125 in Lincolnshire.
The students concluded their commencement ceremony by tossing their mortarboard caps into the air, symbolizing both an end and a new beginning. Twadell praised the class for their successful fundraising endeavors, which amassed donations exceeding $100,000 for local, national, and global causes. “You didn’t just grow, you gave. And you gave generously,” Twadell remarked, emphasizing that the students embodied the school’s vision not only in skill but in spirit.
Two seniors addressed their classmates from the podium. Nisa Rao from Riverwoods delivered the Scriptor Address, highlighting the importance of selfless individuals within the school community. “Thank you all for being a part of my community,” Rao expressed.
Sanchi Deshpande of Lincolnshire offered the Gubernator Address, encouraging classmates to embrace their life’s journey. “We, Patriots, do not skip to the ending. We live the journey,” Deshpande advised.
Among the attendees was Joie Goldstein from Buffalo Grove, who shared her views on the enduring privilege of being a Patriot. Also present was Karthik Pushparaj of Buffalo Grove, father to graduate Aditya Karthik, 17. He hoped for his son’s success in studies and life.
In the audience were parents Jam and Maru Torres of Prairie View, holding signs for their graduating daughter Abigail “Aye Jay” Julianne Torres, 18. “I’m so proud of her,” Jam Torres expressed, acknowledging her daughter as one of the best things in his life. Aye Jay herself expressed gratitude to her parents for their sacrifices and thanked other family members for their support.
