Study Reveals High Incidence of CTE Among Deceased NFL Players
Researchers have conducted the largest study to date, investigating brains of deceased NFL players. This study suggests that the incidence of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease caused by repeated head injuries, is likely underestimated.
Ann McKee, director of Boston University’s Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Center, was involved in this significant research effort. Findings indicate that at least 25% of former NFL players who have passed away in recent years suffered from CTE. This highlights the ongoing concerns about brain health linked to professional football.
