A video, shared by Scott Vander Dussen of Santa Cruz Now, shows 16-year-old Ryder Williams as he skillfully saved a 10-year-old boy from the dangerous waters at Seabright State Beach in Santa Cruz, California. The boy had drifted about 15 yards from shore, and Williams, along with help from other beachgoers, managed to bring the child to safety. The entire rescue unfolded over a span of just two minutes.

Following the event, President Trump announced on social media his intention to welcome Ryder Williams, his family, and potentially the young boy he saved to the White House. Trump stated, “We’re going to bring this heroic young man, and his family, into the White House with, perhaps, the boy he saved, to give him a High Civilian Honor. Very brave, he deserves it!”

The identity of the young hero was confirmed by his family to the California Post. Ryder’s father, Shane Williams, expressed immense pride in his son, calling him an “amazing kid.” He remarked, “He just wants to be a kid and work hard this summer and serve and protect his community.”

Shane Williams also mentioned the overwhelming attention these events have brought. “He’s doing great. We’re so overwhelmed,” he shared. “I’m trying to shelter him. I still see him as a little boy.”
