The Tennessee Titans find themselves in a challenging situation, as their season is off to a rocky start with a 0-5 record. This poor performance led Titans CEO Burke Nihill to issue an apology to the team’s fan base. Nihill, speaking on behalf of controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk, acknowledged the team’s struggles and expressed the organization’s remorse.
The first thing I would say back to the fans is just that we’re sorry,Nihill told ESPN.There’s nobody in this building that doesn’t feel… a sense of grief about it, because not only are we fans of the team as well, but we feel the sense of responsibility to deliver. And we’ve let our fans down because football is supposed to be fun.
Currently, the Titans have the fewest points scored per game in the league, averaging 11.6. Despite a relatively stable defense, allowing 21.8 points per game and ranking 11th in the NFL, offensive struggles prevent them from securing a win. The team was expected to perform better with the addition of head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Mike Borgonzi. However, support from the leadership remains firm.
Nihill expressed confidence in the team’s direction, stating, I personally feel a sense of stability. I believe that Mike Borgonzi and Robert Saleh are ultimately going to get this team out of the woods and restore it to competitive football. The train is on the tracks. It just hasn’t picked up momentum, but it will.
In recent years, the Titans have experienced significant changes, including the firing of either a general manager or a head coach every year since 2022. The team has been on a losing streak, having lost 33 of their last 39 games, with only six victories since the start of the 2023 season. Hope persists among the Titans’ leadership and fans that the team will secure its first win against the Indianapolis Colts in the upcoming game on Sunday.
