Tragic Shooting at Nashville U-Haul: Employee Arrested

A 56-year-old worker was fatally shot by a co-worker at a Nashville U-Haul store during a shift. The incident involved a dispute over a drink. Police stated that Devin Rice, 23, fired several shots, resulting in the death of Fredrick Lytton.

Devin Rice was apprehended on August 5 on charges of criminal homicide. The shooting occurred after a reported argument between Rice and Lytton, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

The police revealed that Rice admitted to the argument and subsequent shooting, using a pistol. After the incident, Rice fled the scene but was later arrested by authorities.

Local resident Joshua Houghtaylen expressed concern over the increasing crime rate in Nashville, urging police to take more stringent action in seizing firearms.

“The crime here in Nashville is getting really bad,” Houghtaylen said. “Police need to do a better job at getting the guns off the street because there’s a lot of shootings in Nashville.”

Jeff Porter, the U-Haul area district vice president, responded with a statement expressing shock and sadness about the tragic event, emphasizing support for the victim’s family and affected team members.

Lytton was remembered in an obituary as a passionate cross-country truck driver with a love for the open road, NASCAR, animals, and classic country music. It highlighted his strong spirit, perseverance, and zest for life.
