Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently announced the introduction of US dollar-denominated bills featuring the signature of President Donald Trump. This move commemorates the United States’ 250th birthday. Bessent confirmed this initiative by sharing a social-media post from the president. The post included an image of a $100 bill with Trump’s recognizable signature.
Bessent stated, There is no more powerful way to recognize the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald J. Trump than U.S dollar bills bearing his signature, and it is only appropriate that this historic currency be issued at the semiquincentennial.
Historically, US paper currency includes signatures of the treasury secretary and the US treasurer, rather than the president.
Trump, who has a background as a New York businessman, has shown a strong interest in imprinting his influence on various institutions in Washington and across the nation. Last year, the administration added Trump’s name to the US Institute of Peace, as well as to the board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, though a judge later ruled that his name be removed from the arts complex.
Additionally, Palm Beach International Airport in Florida is being renamed in honor of the president.
