President Donald Trump has announced a significant oil agreement, declaring it the “biggest oil deal in world history.” This deal gives the United States majority control of over 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves in Venezuela. The arrangement involves collaboration with the Venezuelan government and private-sector partners.
Trump shared on Truth Social that the deal would not incur any cost to U.S. taxpayers. He emphasized that this agreement would more than double U.S. oil reserves and contribute to lowering gasoline prices. Trump mentioned that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth played key roles in negotiating the deal alongside Venezuela’s interim President Delcy RodrÃguez. He described the agreement as a historic step in enhancing ties between the two nations.
Marco Rubio commented on the platform X, highlighting the deal as a major victory for both the American and Venezuelan populations. Rubio stated that the agreement underscores President Trump’s bold foreign policy, which aims to secure stable reserves and affordable oil within the hemisphere, along with reducing gas prices domestically. Rubio added that the deal would attract nearly $100 billion in private investment to Venezuela, create thousands of high-paying jobs, and aid in reconstructing Venezuela’s economy.
