President Donald Trump announced successful talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and representatives from Hezbollah. Both sides have agreed to cease hostilities.
Trump shared this development on Truth Social, affirming, “I had a conversation with Bibi Netanyahu today, asking him not to go into a major raid of Beirut, Lebanon. He turned his Troops around. Thank you Bibi! I also had a conversation with Representatives of the Leaders of Hezbollah, and they agreed to stop shooting at Israel, and its soldiers. Likewise, Israel agreed to stop shooting at them.”
Trump added with hope, “Let’s see how long that lasts. Hopefully, it will be for ETERNITY!”
Similarly, the Lebanese Presidency X account confirmed that the agreement would prevent Israel from firing on southern suburbs of Beirut, and Hezbollah would refrain from attacking Israel. The message highlights that “the ceasefire framework” aims to “expand to encompass all Lebanese territories.”
Further discussions are planned for Tuesday and Wednesday to strengthen this progress. The ceasefire had been in place since mid-April, according to the Associated Press.
This ceasefire agreement coincides with ongoing U.S. negotiations with Iran for reaching a deal. The situation is evolving, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
