President Donald Trump, during an episode of the podcast “Storytime with the Second Lady,” suggested hosting a reunion of former presidents at the White House to watch a football game. While flipping through a book detailing presidential pastimes, he mentioned that the idea came to him when he saw a depiction of a president hosting a Super Bowl viewing at the White House.
Trump proposed inviting Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and the Bush family for this potential gathering. He remarked, “Wouldn’t that be a nice story? The press would go wild.” The second lady, Usha Vance, responded enthusiastically, agreeing that such a reunion would be fun.
This podcast episode is part of a series where Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance, hosts guests who narrate books for children on YouTube. Trump’s recent appearance revolved around a book titled “Presidents Play!,” published by the White House Historical Association, which features leisure activities of former presidents.
Instead of reading the book verbatim, Trump provided humorous takes on past presidents. For instance, he commented on William Howard Taft’s love for baseball, referring to him as a “large man” who enjoyed hot dogs at games. Trump joked about being careful not to surpass Taft’s record as the heaviest president.
Additionally, Trump expressed admiration for Bill Clinton, highlighting his installation of a jogging track at the White House during his presidency. Trump noted, “I like Bill Clinton a lot. I still do.” He also encouraged listeners to maintain good health.
Recently, Trump’s presidential predecessors, including George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Joe Biden, gathered at the opening of Barack Obama’s presidential center. However, Trump, noted for his critical stance toward Obama, was not in attendance.
