On Monday, former President Donald Trump revealed he had suggested to South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster that Darline Graham Nordone, sister of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, be appointed as an interim U.S. senator. Through a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed, “I recommended, to Governor Henry McMaster, Lindsey Graham’s wonderful sister, Darline, to serve as interim Senator from the Great State of South Carolina. This would be a fabulous tribute to Lindsey, who loved her dearly!”

Nordone’s name quickly became part of the discussion regarding who might occupy the Senate seat left vacant by Graham’s passing at 71. Although McMaster holds the authority to fill this interim position until a special election, he has not publicly named his choice.

Who is Darline Graham Nordone?

Darline Graham Nordone, Lindsey Graham’s younger sister, was considered his closest relative. Graham, who did not marry or have children, often emphasized the strong connection he had with her.

The siblings were raised in Central, South Carolina. Their parents, Millie and F.J. Graham, ran the Sanitary Cafe, a business encompassing a restaurant, bar, and pool hall, as reported by Politico. They lived a simple life, and the family stayed in a room behind the cafe.
