President Donald Trump’s net job approval rating has improved to its highest level in the last three months, according to a recent Napolitan News Service poll. Despite this uptick, a larger share of Americans still disapprove of his performance.
The poll reveals that 44% of participants approve of Trump’s performance, while 53% disapprove, resulting in a net approval rating of -9 percentage points. Although his approval remains negative overall, this is his best net rating since April, indicating a slight improvement in public perception.
Moreover, the survey shows that Trump’s disapproval rating has also declined to its lowest in roughly three months. At 53%, the proportion of Americans who disapprove has decreased from higher figures recorded in previous polls, suggesting a slight reduction in opposition, albeit with a majority still holding a negative view.
The last time Trump’s net approval rating was -9% or better was in a poll from April 8 to April 15, registering at -8%. Likewise, the 53% disapproval mark was last seen in that same poll.
Conducted by RMG Research, Inc., the survey ran from July 6 to July 14, 2026, polling 2,000 registered voters with a margin of error of 2.2%.
In response to inquiries about the survey, White House Spokesman Davis Ingle stated, “No other President in history has accomplished more for the American people than President Trump, who is working tirelessly to create jobs, cool inflation, increase housing affordability, and more.” He further asserted that Trump’s progress both domestically and internationally is only the beginning as his policies continue to unfold.
Despite these findings, recent polling averages still reflect a net negative approval rating for Trump at the national level. His approval is being monitored closely as the 2026 congressional midterm elections approach, often seen as indicative of the president’s party’s potential performance at the polls.
The latest poll results come during a period of challenges for Trump both overseas and at home. His administration’s stance on Iran is under increased examination, raising concerns over potential conflict in the Middle East and the long-term viability of his foreign policies.
Domestically, the erosion of confidence in Trump’s economic policies poses significant challenges. Surveys highlight growing dissatisfaction with his approach to inflation, cost of living, and economic conditions. Despite some easing of price pressures and job growth, many remain critical.
Other polls present contrasting insights. A survey by The Economist/YouGov indicates a 37% approval rating for Trump against a 59% disapproval rating. The poll highlights economic pessimism, with only 24% viewing the economy favorably compared to 71% expressing dissatisfaction. The survey, involving 1,616 U.S. adults from July 10 to July 13, 2026, has a 3.3% margin of error.
An Echelon Insights poll records Trump’s approval at 38% and disapproval at 61%, with a similar economic approval of 35%. This poll, conducted from July 9 to July 13, 2026, among 1,004 likely voters, has a 3.6% margin of error.
Looking ahead, Trump’s approval rating may hinge on key economic indicators like inflation, consumer prices, and job statistics, which significantly influence public opinion. The impact of administration policies, pending tariff discussions, and the outcome of budget talks in Washington could also shape perceptions of his effectiveness.
