President Trump will deliver a speech at the Pentagon during the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Unlike previous occasions, he will not travel to Ground Zero in New York City.
When questioned about his decision, Trump stated, “Because I’m going to the Pentagon.” A White House representative revealed that Vice President Vance will travel to NYC, ensuring all sites are represented by administration officials.
Reportedly, Trump initially expressed interest in speaking at Ground Zero. However, other considerations, including a trip to his golf course in Doonbeg, Ireland, influenced his decision to remain at the Pentagon. The policy of restricting politicians from speaking at Ground Zero has been in place since 2012.
Anna Kelly, a White House spokesperson, commented, “As a proud New Yorker, President Trump has shared his experience watching the tragic events of 9/11. On this anniversary, he will honor those who were killed, their loved ones, and the brave first responders.”
This marks the second consecutive year that Trump will commemorate the anniversary at the Department of Defense. In 2024, Trump and Vance attended the Ground Zero memorial alongside then-President Biden and Vice President Harris.
