Jackson Lahmeyer, a Republican congressional candidate from Oklahoma, has decided to suspend his campaign. Lahmeyer, who had received an endorsement from President Donald Trump, made this decision a day after advancing to a runoff.
This move follows allegations made by a British tabloid suggesting an inappropriate relationship with a former staff member. Lahmeyer issued a statement clarifying his actions. He acknowledged crossing a boundary through text messages but challenged what he referred to as a “distorted story from a British tabloid.”
In his statement, Lahmeyer emphasized his intention not to become a distraction amid the controversy surrounding his relationship with the former staffer.
