In Arlington, Texas, Harry Kane showcased his talent by scoring twice in England’s 4-2 victory over Croatia. This match saw England avenge their defeat in the 2018 World Cup semifinals. Jude Bellingham also added to England’s tally, scoring just two minutes into the second half.
Kane’s achievements were notable as he equaled the English record for World Cup goals, matching Gary Lineker’s total of 10. His first goal came from a penalty kick, awarded after Luka Modric fouled Noni Madueke. Despite Dominik Livakovic saving Kane’s initial shot, a video review ruled out the save because Livakovic’s feet were off the goal line.
Following his penalty, Kane added another goal with a powerful header off a corner kick from Declan Rice. This success further solidified his position as one of England’s top goal-scorers with 81 international goals.
Croatia’s response came through Martin Baturina and Petar Musa. Baturina scored in the first half, with his shot deflecting off goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s hand. Musa, playing for FC Dallas, capitalized on Ivan Perisic’s header to score just before halftime. However, Croatia’s parity was short-lived as Bellingham extended England’s lead early in the second half. Marcus Rashford secured the win by adding another goal in the 85th minute.
The match venue, AT&T Stadium, provided a comfortable setting for fans escaping the Texas heat, housing supporters of both teams. Croatian fans wore their recognizable red-and-white checkered uniforms, enhancing the evening’s atmosphere.
England’s next challenge will be against Ghana in Foxborough, Massachusetts. On the same day, Croatia will face Panama in Toronto as part of Group L competition.
