Jon Rahm’s Frustrating U.S. Open Round

Golf often challenges the patience of both amateur and professional players. Jon Rahm, despite being a top player, found himself visibly frustrated during the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.

Rahm, who won the U.S. Open in 2021, started the tournament well on Thursday. He finished the first round two-under-par, setting a promising tone.

However, Friday brought different challenges. During his play on the ninth hole, the Spaniard was already struggling with missed birdie and par putts. His frustration peaked when a birdie attempt narrowly missed to the right. Rahm’s immediate reaction was to flip his club and utter a frustrated exclamation.

This moment underscores the universal frustration golfers face when dealing with tough putts. Whether at a major tournament or on a mini-golf course, missing shots can be aggravating.

The greens at the U.S. Open proved unforgiving for Rahm. After sinking a subsequent par putt, Rahm faced a difficult stretch on the back nine, bogeying five consecutive holes.

His difficulties didn’t stop there, as three more bogeys on the front nine resulted in a score of 78 for the day, leaving Rahm six-over for the tournament. This score positioned him below the cut line, prematurely ending his tournament.

It was undoubtedly a challenging week for Rahm. He might find relief in leaving the tournament behind after such a tough Friday.
