A multi-agency search is in progress for a 22-year-old man linked to a violent crime spree spanning multiple states. The suspect, Oscar Sanchez-Munoz, is accused of various highway shootings near Arrowhead Stadium, coinciding with the FIFA World Cup.
The FBI’s Kansas City office has set a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction. Sanchez-Munoz is identified as a White Hispanic male, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 184 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo on his right forearm.
The public is advised by authorities to consider Sanchez-Munoz “armed and dangerous.”
Shootings Across State Lines
Sanchez-Munoz is sought in relation to at least six shootings across Kansas and Missouri. Law enforcement issued a state warrant for his arrest following an alleged vehicle shooting on June 11 in Wyandotte County, Kansas. He faces charges of criminal discharge of a firearm and has an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault with a $100,000 bond.
Kansas City Police suspect Sanchez-Munoz in five shootings that occurred on Tuesday night along Interstate 70 in Kansas City, Missouri. These incidents unfolded close to Arrowhead Stadium during the FIFA World Cup matches.
Police Confrontation and Aftermath
At least one person died from these shootings. Another individual sustained severe injuries, while several others are expected to recover, including an Uber driver who was injured while transporting people to a match between Argentina and Algeria.
The events led to a tense standoff at a residence in Independence, Missouri. The house caught fire but was safely extinguished by morning. Despite thorough searches with K-9 units and Missouri State Fire Marshals, Sanchez-Munoz was not found. Authorities did recover a vehicle believed to have been used in the Tuesday night incidents.
No motives have been disclosed as of Saturday.
Public Alert and Ongoing Investigation
The FBI and Kansas City Police are urging the public to stay alert. Anyone with any information regarding Sanchez-Munoz’s location is asked to contact local authorities or submit tips online. Immediate sightings should be reported to 911.
