Resignation of Los Angeles School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho
The superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District, Alberto Carvalho, resigned on Sunday. This decision came months after the FBI conducted a search of his home and the district headquarters. Officials have confirmed the development.
Carvalho had been at the helm of the 520,000-student district since 2022. Shortly after the search, on February 25, he was placed on paid leave. His leadership in one of the country’s largest school systems has been under scrutiny since then.
Prior to his resignation, Carvalho served as the superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District, which is recognized as the second-largest educational system in the United States. The recent investigations have brought significant attention to the administration and the events leading to his decision to step down.
