Katy Perry’s headlining performance at Belgium’s Werchter Boutique was canceled hours before she was to take the stage due to severe weather forecasts. Officials shut down the outdoor festival for safety reasons.
Perry expressed her disappointment on Instagram. She apologized to fans, citing the decision was out of her hands. “Sadly my set @WerchterBoutique tonight can’t happen due to a government-mandated cancellation because of the incoming inclement weather and crowd safety concerns,” she wrote.
She added that she learned of the cancellation while getting ready and regretted not being able to perform. “I am just as unhappy as you are,” she explained, noting the safety of the 55,000 attendees took precedence.
“Unfortunately this is beyond my control, but the safety of all 55,000 of you always comes first and foremost,” Perry added. “I am sorry I can’t change the weather, and even sorrier that we can’t be together tonight.”
This performance would have marked Perry’s return to Festivalpark Werchter since July 2009. She last performed there during the Rock Werchter Festival on her Hello Katy tour.
Perry shared a backstage photo in a robe with her costume beside her. Her set at the festival was planned for 10pm after Pitbull’s performance.
The festival’s statement confirmed Perry’s set would not go ahead, ending the event after Pitbull due to predicted thunderstorms later that night. Authorities prioritized safe exits for attendees.
The cancellation follows Perry’s recent performance at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Los Angeles. There, she performed her 2024 song “Wonder” with Norwegian singer Tius.
Perry’s boyfriend, Justin Trudeau, attended the ceremony to support her. The couple went public with their relationship in December 2025.
Katy Perry continues her European tour and has a headlining concert planned at DEPOT Live at Cardiff Castle in Wales.
