Ali Larter, known for her role in Landman, finds her summers in Idaho much simpler compared to her previous life in Los Angeles. During the Newport Beach TV Fest, Larter shared with Fox News Digital how her move to Sun Valley, Idaho in 2020 transformed her summer experience.
Transition to Idaho
Larter expressed that her summer months now differ from her days in Los Angeles. While it’s challenging to get her children to hike, she encourages them to enjoy activities like bike rides and cold plunges in the river. Idaho’s long summer days, with sunlight extending until 10 at night, provide ample opportunity for family bonding.
The actress and her husband, Hayes MacArthur, revel in barbecuing, playing with their dogs, and watching their daughter play volleyball. Trips for ice cream and relaxed family time characterize their lifestyle in Idaho.
Decision to Move
During a November interview, Larter discussed the pivotal moment when she and MacArthur decided to make Idaho their home permanently. Initially moving due to the uncertainty with California schools during the COVID-19 lockdown, they placed their daughter in kindergarten in Idaho, where schools were open. This decision allowed their daughter to experience kindergarten and facilitated organic connections with local families, enhancing their sense of community.
After spending time in Idaho, the family returned to Los Angeles for the summer, only to realize the demands of city life on Larter’s acting career. Despite her love for L.A., she prioritized a family-focused lifestyle and embraced simpler living.
Balance Between Career and Family
Larter acknowledged the extensive expectations for actors in Los Angeles, including frequent auditions, parties, and charity events. However, she and her husband valued being with their children more and chose to nurture their family life.
Speaking at the Newport Beach TV Fest, Larter, who portrays Angela Norris on Landman, reflected on the character as a ‘wildcat’ and expressed a desire to embody more of that energy in her daily life.
