Philadelphia often garners attention during Fourth of July celebrations, known as the birthplace of the nation. This year, the city finds itself in the spotlight due to a slip-up related to the MLB All-Star Game. The game is scheduled at Citizens Bank Park on July 14. The announcement of the rosters is expected this Saturday evening.
However, there have been leaks, potentially because of some premature banner displays on Philadelphia’s light poles. Photos of these banners have circulated on social media, suggesting some players’ participation in the upcoming Mid-Summer Classic.
Among the images is one of Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson, indicating his presence in the All-Star Game hosted by Philadelphia.
Certain players on the banners are no surprise. Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes appears prominently, a selection that many anticipated. His image might have been on display for weeks without causing much stir, as his inclusion seemed expected.
Such incidents raise curiosity about how instructions, like waiting until July 5 to hang banners, get overlooked. Perhaps key instructions were either miscommunicated or poorly received.
The All-Star rosters will officially be announced on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET on FOX.
