Justin Baldoni Discusses Legal Dispute and Moving Forward

Justin Baldoni addressed the legal dispute surrounding him and his wife, Emily, on Instagram. Over a year and a half have passed since actress Blake Lively accused him of sexual harassment during the filming of “It Ends With Us.” Baldoni directed and acted in the movie.

Lively also claimed that Baldoni’s production company, Wayfarer Studios, retaliated after she reported misconduct. Baldoni denied these accusations.

U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed most of Lively’s claims, including harassment and defamation, ruling she was an independent contractor. However, three claims remained: breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting in retaliation. The parties settled in May before trial.

Lively’s team did not comment on Baldoni’s video, where he and Emily spoke about the ordeal’s effect on their lives. Baldoni emphasized letting the justice system handle the situation. Emily acknowledged the pain they endured, expressing gratitude while recognizing the injustices faced.

“We wrestled with many things,” Emily Baldoni said, reflecting on the difficult period.

Lively’s allegations surfaced in December 2024 after the film’s release. Her initial complaint was with the California Civil Rights Department, leading to a federal lawsuit. The case revealed private communications and studio discussions.

Baldoni, known for “Jane the Virgin,” has stayed away from the public eye, living in Nashville with his family. He has not announced new projects since the legal issues began. His prior Instagram post was in June 2025.

Baldoni countersued Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for defamation and extortion in January 2025. The court dismissed his claims but allowed Lively to seek financial damages under California Civil Code Section 47.1. Her legal team seeks over $7.5 million in fees and expenses. Baldoni and Wayfarer must respond by Monday.

In the video, the Baldonis thanked supporters. Justin said their faith and loved ones helped them endure. Emily mentioned focusing on healing and enjoying family life.
