Demands for Platner’s Withdrawal

Following a serious rape allegation, prominent Democrats such as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Representative Ro Khanna, Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, have withdrawn their support for Platner or urged him to leave the race. A follow-up accusation emerged shortly after, involving inappropriate sexual conduct with former partner Lyndsey Fifield. According to reports from the Washington Post, Platner allegedly disregarded a request from Fifield during their encounter, exacerbating his campaign troubles.

Platner, looking to unseat incumbent Senator Susan Collins, now faces increased scrutiny. His campaign has denied these accusations, labeling them as “categorically false and politically motivated.” Despite Fox News Digital’s requests, there has been no further comment from Platner’s team.

Political Repercussions

Bongino and fellow Republicans criticized Democrats for their abrupt change of stance on Platner. Bongino dismissed allegations of genuine concern for Platner’s policies on women or taxes, suggesting instead that it was about a “simple power equation.” He expressed the view that Platner was once seen as an asset to the “collectivist communist left” until he no longer served their purpose.
