E.U.’s Rise in Russian LNG Imports

The European Union has dedicated years to reducing its dependence on fossil fuels. Despite this commitment, current policies have led the bloc to increase imports of natural gas from Russia.

In the first half of the year, European Union nations purchased 9.89 million tons of liquefied natural gas from Russia’s Yamal LNG facility. This figure marks an 18 percent rise compared to the first six months of the previous year.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was seen visiting a drone exhibition in Moscow on Monday, showcasing Russia’s increasing technological advancements. This situation underscores ongoing geopolitical complexities involving energy supply.
