Andrew Kolvet from Turning Point USA labeled the viral ‘looksmaxxing’ trend among young men as a ‘warning sign.’ During ‘The Will Cain Show,’ he stated that it highlights a gap in mentorship for young men seeking guidance.
Kolvet emphasized, ‘This is all a giant red warning sign. Young men are looking for mentors to help make sense of the tumultuous social scene. They need direction, and Clavicular offers them that.’
The ‘looksmaxxing’ trend, promoted by the influencer Clavicular, focuses on enhancing physical appearance through methods such as fitness, grooming, and facial aesthetics. In one method, ‘bone smashing,’ Clavicular openly mentioned using a hammer to create microfractures in his jaw to promote regrowth. He stressed the importance of consulting a doctor before attempting such practices.
While acknowledging Clavicular’s charisma, Kolvet urged young men to prioritize other values. He said, ‘Instead of ‘looksmaxxing,’ we need to encourage young people to be ‘charactermaxxing.”
Medical experts have criticized Clavicular’s ‘bone smashing’ due to the potential for severe injuries. On a podcast with Sean Hannity, Clavicular described ‘looksmaxxing’ as the most complete form of self-improvement, arguing it enhances every interaction in life.
Kolvet believes that the key to success lies in positive mentorship. He encouraged older viewers to guide younger men seeking help in navigating their chaotic social environment. ‘Please, please, please find young men to mentor,’ stressed Kolvet. He believes this mentorship is crucial in transforming the lives of many young men.
