Netanyahu Responds to Mamdani’s Arrest Call Amid NYC Tensions

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to attend the United Nations General Assembly, despite New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s push for his arrest under an International Criminal Court warrant. Netanyahu shared his views on military strategy against Iran and Hezbollah in an appearance on ‘Sunday Morning Futures.’

Netanyahu criticized Mayor Mamdani during the interview, accusing him of inciting division among New Yorkers and making the Jewish community feel insecure. “Look what Mayor Mamdani is doing. He is supposed to serve all New Yorkers, regardless of their faith, but he’s causing division,” Netanyahu stated.

The Prime Minister reported that Jewish Americans in New York have expressed increasing fear. He connected this sentiment to a recent stabbing outside a Manhattan synagogue, where Raul Morales allegedly attacked a Jewish man, shouting “Allahu Akbar.” Morales is also connected to another attack on an Asian man.

Despite Mamdani publicly recognizing that New York City lacks the legal standing to arrest Netanyahu, he has called for federal intervention. Mamdani labeled Netanyahu a “war criminal” and responsible for “genocide against the Palestinian people.” Still, Netanyahu remains undeterred and plans to visit New York, promising to “speak the truth” at the United Nations General Assembly.

“I intend to uphold the relationship between Israel and the United States,” Netanyahu declared. He emphasized his commitment to attending the assembly barring any extraordinary security concerns, which he does not anticipate for this trip.
