Sherrone Moore’s Departure from Ann Arbor

Sherrone Moore, the former head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, is moving past a significant personal and professional setback. Moore, who lost his position following an affair with an executive assistant, and his wife are planning to leave Ann Arbor. The couple has listed their home for $1.7 million, according to Realtor.com, which is located around a 15-minute drive from the university. The residence on Walnut Ridge Drive, identified by The Detroit News as Moore’s, features five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms on a half-acre lot. It was last purchased in 2023 for $1.3 million.

Moore previously served under Jim Harbaugh as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. He briefly acted as head coach when Harbaugh was suspended. Moore later took on the head coach role after Harbaugh accepted a position with the Los Angeles Chargers following a championship season.

For his actions after being dismissed, Moore was sentenced to 18 months probation. He avoided jail time by pleading no contest to two misdemeanors. Reports claim Moore threatened to end his life with a butter knife and scissors at the house of the person he was involved with, after she attempted to end the affair. Shriver, the executive assistant, had disclosed their relationship to Michigan officials, which resulted in his termination.

Kelli Moore, Sherrone’s wife, attended his court proceedings and sought leniency for him. Judge Cedric Simpson remarked on Kelli’s dedication, noting her unwavering support despite the circumstances. He pointed out that her strength played a role in Moore avoiding harsher punishment.

The Moores are now looking to rebuild, though their next destination remains unknown. Re-entering the coaching arena may prove challenging for Moore, amidst his expertise, given the scandal’s impact.

In addition to probation, Moore must pay over $1,000 in fines as part of his plea deal. He is required to continue mental health treatment, abstain from alcohol and marijuana, and avoid possessing any weapons. He also must not contact the alleged victim.

Sherrone Moore’s record as Michigan’s head coach was 16-8, with an 8-5 mark in his first year and 7-3 in the following season. He was suspended for two games due to involvement in a sign-stealing investigation.
