Joe Rogan Criticizes U.S. Military Campaign Against Iran

During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, podcaster Joe Rogan voiced concerns about the direction and sustainability of the U.S. military campaign against Iran. Speaking with journalist Annie Jacobsen, Rogan argued that there is “no clear way” to end the conflict.

Rogan agreed with Jacobsen’s assessment of a potential “fundamental warping” of the U.S. military. He remarked, “And also, no clear way to resolve this—at all. And it seems like our stockpiles are running dry. Bases are getting blown up by drones.” Rogan cautioned that the conflict could make America an enemy and less safe, due to perceived unprovoked attacks.

Rogan later added, “Also the real problem is it makes America an enemy and it makes us less safe because America has done this thing, this unprovoked attack and so now, they have a reason to attack back.”

Rogan’s comments add to criticisms he has previously directed at President Donald Trump’s handling of the conflict. Earlier in the year, Rogan questioned the administration’s strategy, suggesting it “doesn’t make any sense” and questioned the motives behind it.

Robert Y. Shapiro, a professor at Columbia, noted that Rogan’s remarks align with the public’s awareness of the situation in Iran, signaling potential impacts on Trump’s support base. Shapiro labeled Rogan’s comments as “more writing on the wall” regarding the conflict’s perceived failures.

Recent polling reflects declining support for Trump’s Iran policy. A Quinnipiac University poll showed 34% of voters support military action against Iran while 60% oppose it. Support amongst independents is weaker, with 26% in favor and 69% against. Trump’s approval rating concerning Iran has dropped to 28%, with a disapproval rate of 66%.

Influence of Joe Rogan’s Criticism

Rogan’s influence as one of the most renowned podcast hosts adds political significance to his criticism, which comes despite prior endorsements of Trump. Rogan previously commented that the military action against Iran “just doesn’t make any sense” unless serving another nation’s interests.

He voiced feeling that Trump’s actions contradicted promises of avoiding war, stating, “I mean, this is why a lot of people feel betrayed, right? He ran on no more wars and these stupid, senseless wars.” Rogan’s stance reflects growing debates among conservatives and independents over the alignment of the Iran conflict with Trump’s promises.
