Trump Reports Halt on Attack Plans Against Iran Amid Deal Prospects

On Saturday, Trump used social media to declare that Iran and other Middle Eastern nations had urged the U.S. to pause any planned assault on Iran. He indicated that a potential agreement’s framework had been established.

Reports had circulated that the U.S. and Israel were preparing strikes against Iran’s energy facilities over the weekend. However, Trump announced that the U.S. was prepared for action against Iran but decided to “cancel the attack” following Tehran’s request. This pause was contingent on the ability to swiftly finalize a deal. He mentioned Israel’s participation in this decision.

Trump outlined that any agreement would entail “immediate, complete, and total opening of the Hormuz Strait” and ending Iran’s nuclear threat. Iran maintains that their nuclear ambitions serve peaceful aims. They have not officially responded to Trump’s claims.

The Mehr news agency, linked with the Iranian government, dismissed Trump’s statements as “simply a new lie,” referencing unnamed Iranian military sources.

This declaration is the latest development since the U.S. and Israel initiated combat against Iran in February. A recent AP poll shows that nearly two-thirds of Americans believe the conflict is not justifiable.
