Virginia Reports First Locally Acquired Dengue Case

Virginia health officials announced on Tuesday the detection of the state’s first locally acquired dengue case. A resident, who had not traveled outside Virginia, was likely infected by a mosquito. This mosquito may have previously bitten an individual carrying the virus.

Currently, officials report no ongoing transmission, and there are no new cases of locally acquired dengue. Authorities are actively monitoring the situation to prevent further infections.
