Mother Records Road Rage Incident on North Carolina Interstate

A mother captured a road rage incident on video while driving on a North Carolina interstate. She claims another driver cut her off, brake-checked her, and threatened to kill her while her 3-year-old son cried in the car.

Myeka Dunn shared with FOX8 WGHP that she was on her way to drop off her son at her mother’s house at around 4:30 p.m. last Friday. Suddenly, a dark blue sedan swerved into her lane. After Dunn honked her horn, the situation escalated quickly. The other driver allegedly tried to cut her off multiple times, brake-checked her, and made violent threats.

“They almost hit me, so that’s when I honked my horn at them,” Dunn explained.

Dunn began recording as the driver continued to follow her on the highway. In the video, the man can be seen leaning out of his vehicle, yelling threats such as, “You are going to die!” Meanwhile, Dunn’s son was audibly upset in the background.

The driver reportedly continued with phrases like, “I could kill you!” Dunn noted that her windows were partially open, allowing the driver to see her child in the car. Despite this, the man appeared unbothered.

To address the threat, Dunn called 911 and the Guilford Metro non-emergency line. She reported the incident and mentioned she had video evidence. However, she expressed disappointment with the response she received.

“To know that they’re still out there and nothing has been done about it is absolutely frustrating and scary,” Dunn said.

Christine Moore, Deputy Director of Operations, commented on the dispatcher’s response. She stated the dispatcher did not follow all protocols. Typically, a “be on the lookout” alert, or BOLO, should be entered with complete information. The dispatcher failed to mention the availability of the video, which might interest an officer.

The Greensboro Police Department confirmed they issued a BOLO after receiving reports about a dark blue sedan swerving through traffic and yelling at other drivers.

Authorities have identified the driver but have not made an arrest. The police department advised Dunn about obtaining a misdemeanor warrant through the Magistrate’s Office since officers did not witness the incident firsthand.

Dunn is currently working to secure a misdemeanor warrant against the driver.
