Authorities in Arizona are investigating a chilling scene after the remains of two individuals were uncovered in the backyard of a home belonging to a missing couple. The couple’s adult son has left the country and is now under suspicion in the case, as reported by the police.
According to the Avondale Police Department, officers were dispatched to a residence in Litchfield Park on Tuesday. They were performing a welfare check on a family composed of a husband, wife, and their son, Matthew Flores, who is 27 years old.
Officer Daniel Benavidez conveyed that upon arrival, law enforcement found the house empty. However, they discovered signs indicative of foul play. Flores has become a person of interest in what continues to be an investigation into missing persons.
Benavidez confirmed that Flores had managed to exit the country. He withheld additional information about Flores’s current location, saying, “I can’t give you specifics on where to look in the world. All I can say is he fled the country.”
The identities of the remains found at the site have not been confirmed yet. Regarding the evidence that suggested foul play, Benavidez explained, “What I can say that we identified is a large amount of blood, and we also identified what we believed is evidence in an attempt to conceal that blood.”
This case is ongoing, and updates are expected as the investigation develops.
