Mountain Lion Encounter Follows Unusual Rooftop Discovery

Finding unexpected waste on your roof is rarely a good sign. It’s unusual for someone to find such an unwanted surprise and feel optimistic about it. This kind of discovery typically doesn’t lead to a mountain lion encounter, but occasionally, it does.

Unexpected Rooftop Discovery

Bill Dabney from Pasadena faced an unusual and unfortunate event. He found waste on the roof of his guest house, which soon led him to an encounter with a mountain lion. Dabney shared his experience with KABC-TV, reporting, “I looked up, and I saw poop on the roof.” The waste was divided into four separate stools, possibly signaling an imminent threat.

“All of a sudden I look over and [there’s a] mountain lion staring at me,” Dabney recounted.

This suggests the mountain lion was responsible for the waste on the roof. Discovering these stools followed by a mountain lion sighting seems too connected to be coincidental.

Encounter with Potential Danger

During his encounter, Dabney acted quickly, noticing the mountain lion poised to spring. “He was in the position mode, like he was going to spring,” he said. This signaled him to escape immediately. “Time to go!” Dabney expressed, before running to safety.

Another mountain lion sighting occurred days later, but fortunately, it did not involve any similar waste-related incidents. While it is unclear if it was the same mountain lion, the repeat sighting suggests these animals were active in the area.
